If all you had to go by was his movies, then Keanu Reeves would be a total bad*** who wouldn’t hesitate to beat someone up at the drop of a hat.
But that couldn’t be farther from the truth because, in reality, Keanu is so humble and generous that real-life encounters with him are always filled with anecdotes of inspiration and hope.
For instance, not many people know that he gave away the majority of his earnings for The Matrix trilogy to the special effects and costume design teams simply because he thought they were the true heroes of the story. He also isn’t averse to giving up millions in pay just so that the production team can hire A-list actors for a movie, just like what he did in The Devil’s Advocate (who also starred Al Pacino) and The Replacement (with Gene Hackman).
But his kindness doesn’t limit itself to those in the movie industry. He has been photographed riding the subway, for example. And a recent example shows just how much of a great human being the 54-year-old actor is.
When his United flight to Burbank was recently diverted to Bakersfield, he helped fellow passengers in revising their travel plans and not only got on the bus with them for the drive to their destination, he also regaled them with stories and songs about Bakersfield.
It’s amazing how Keanu Reeves has turned out despite the difficult childhood the Canadian actor had. He was only three years old when his father left him and his mother married three more times after that. He tagged along with his mom to Sydney, New York, and Toronto before finally deciding to pursue a movie career in Los Angeles when he was 15.
He has also faced tragedies in the form of his stillborn daughter, Ava, and the death of Jennifer Syme, his longtime girlfriend. The death of River Phoenix, who was a dear friend, also hit Keanu hard.
But while his trials may have driven Keanu to become a recluse who avoids media attention as much as possible, he still happily agrees to pose for pictures with fans and ordinary people if they request for it.point 337 |
