Katie Price has been convicted of being almost twice the legal limit while driving her Range Rover.

The 40-year-old TV star argued she wasn’t in control of the vehicle when she was arrested. Price was found in a drunken state in the back seat.

Even though she said a mystery man had driven out, Judge Nigel Dean said she wasn’t a ‘credible’ witness.

The businesswoman was banned from driving for three months.

The charge of drink-driving was dropped because of insufficient evidence. The Bexley Magistrates’ Court heard that the 3-month driving ban adds to another from earlier this year for driving while disqualified.

In addition to the $1900 fine, she was also ordered to pay costs and a victim surcharge to bring Price’s total bill to almost $3,200.

The court heard Balvinder Mann and Benjamin Jones first saw the Range Rover veer off the road, hitting a grass verge at 00:40 BST. It was then stationary 15 minutes later.

PC Jones said to magistrates Price was in a very drunken state in the back while Kris Boyson, her friend, was in the passenger seat.

He said: “Her eyes were blurred and her speech was a bit slurred.”

The officer also said the car’s bumper was hanging off. Pieces of shrubbery were stuck on the vehicle and there ‘appeared to be sick on the outside.’

The TV star told the court she had drunk between 3 and 4 martini cocktails at Mr. Boyson’s 30th birthday party in a restaurant.

Price also said she allowed one of her friends to drive the vehicle back towards Mr. Boyson’s house near Bluewater.

“I was really drunk. I’m such a lightweight,” she added.

Both Mr. Boyson and Price claimed the unnamed driver fled after an argument, the court heard.

PC Jones said the two claimed the driver had the key but they were able to turn the engine on. Both officers couldn’t determine who had been driving at that time.

Prosecutor Sonya Saul said the actress was taken for a breathalyzer test and found she had 69 micrograms of alcohol per 100 milliliters of breath. The legal limit is 35.
