A tear-jerking moment husband and wife of 66 years broke into tears as they embraced each other was caught on camera.
Joyce and George Bell, aged 87 and 89, are an adorable couple who have been married for 66 years. Throughout the decades, the British lovers remained inseparable until they were forced apart by stringent Covid restrictions.
According to their family, George and Joyce were hospitalized earlier this year after their health condition had worsened.
For one hundred days, the couple were not allowed to see each other and knew little of one another’s condition until they were finally discharged and moved to the Tollesby Hall Care Home.
On the day of their reunion, Joyce broke into tears as she saw her husband. In tear-jerking pictures, the lovebirds are seen holding each other’s hands while shedding tears of joy.
After overcoming the hardship of being forced apart, George had but one thing to tell his wife as he vowed he would never leave her sight again until the day he dies.
“I can’t tell you how nice it was. I told him I’d always be there for him, no matter what. He held me tight and said he’d never leave me again for the rest of his life,” Joyce expressed.
She went on to recall the beginnings of her relationship with George as she revealed she admired the man who would go out of his way to help people in need.
Speaking of their secret to a long and happy marriage, the 87-year-old added: “Let them have their own way and put your foot down, you have to with George.”
Now that the couple has been reunited at their care home, the staff will make sure they bring them together every day until they are ready to return to their home.
“With the support from the team here at Tollesby we were able to reunite George and his wife again. When Joyce arrived here at Tollesby Hall we told her husband would be coming in soon after,” Rachel White, a staff member, said.
“She was so excited and nervous, she couldn’t sleep, she told staff she felt like a young girl again. It was very emotional when we brought them together for the first time, not just for them but for all the team here at Tollesby who are looking after them.
“It was such a heart-warming moment to be a part of and moved many of us to tears. With the support of the team here at Tollesby we are looking at getting them back in their home where they can return to their life together to carry on their fairy tale.”
