According to one health official, home testing for Covid-19 would be available soon within some days to people in the United Kingdom.
According to the director of national infection service at PHE (Public Health England), Professor Sharon Peacock, mass testing in the country could be a possibility by next week with minimal to zero charges.
As per reports, thousands of coronativurs-detecting fifteen-minute home tests will be distributed by Amazon as well as would be available for selling on the high street at Boots and other chemists.
Matt Hancock, the U.K.’S health secretary, said that the government has bought 3.5 million of coronavirus tests and will be ordering millions more.
The antibody test will uncover the presence of antibodies IGM, which appears in the infections’ early stages, and the IGG that increases during the response of the body to the virus.
The coronavirus test includes pricking the finger and then inspecting a blood drop in a device, which looks similar to pregnancy tests, and revealing to the individual using it whether they have or had the coronavirus disease.
This news comes after the U.K.’s decision to enter lockdown in the attempt to stop further spread of the coronavirus disease, and will hopefully let people, including NHS nurses and doctors, to make more accurate and quicker decisions about patients they are examining who have symptoms.
During the current time, only those who have been hospitalized are being tested routinely for the coronavirus disease but that is set to change by the introduction of home tests.
Currently, nearly 6,000 individuals are being tested on a daily basis but the government plans to raise this to 25,000 in a day within 4 weeks.
As the WHO or World Health Organization urges governments all over the world to test as much as they can, this move by the U.K. government is being praised.
