Camille’s mother, Helen, was suffering from Alzheimer’s.

After some efforts, he managed to find a great retirement home for her where she was supposed to be taken care of by the ‘supposedly’ caring and loving staff. Camille was happy that he had found a great accommodation for the old lady.

After some time when Helen was admitted to the retirement home, Camille began noting some suspicious incidents. He didn’t know what but something wasn’t right about that place.

Then, one fine day, Camille discovered his mother with a black eye. And, that was it, he’d had enough! He decided to install a hidden camera in her mother’s room so as to monitor aggressive fellow patients who may be harming his mother.

What he didn’t suspect, and was shocked to discover on tape, was that the home’s staff were abusing his mother, in aggressive and grotesque ways.

You can see the aggressive behavior of staff in the video below which shows, amongst many other things, how a staff person uses Helen’s bed sheet for blowing his nose.

The video also shows two of the staff members heavily making out in Helen’s room while she watches on, extremely uncomfortable.

As if the behavior of staff wasn’t bad enough, the video also shows how the other residents go into the old lady’s room for taking her possessions, with none of the staff members bothering to stop them.

And the worst of all is when the poor lady gets a washcloth full of feces propped up in her face.

Camille showed the recordings to the director of the home, Alan Cavell, who instantly acknowledged their failure. He promised Camille to improve the home’s security and overhaul the abusive procedures so as to ensure that sort of behavior never gets repeated again.

Every single member of the home’s staff was fired following the reveal of the films, though Alan reinstated one of the staff when Camille told that he won’t keep his mother there any longer. The manager of the home was also fired shortly after the incident.

However, to Camille’s disappointment, none of the staff members were prosecuted for their abusive behavior.

Helen served as a nurse in World War II before she emigrated to Canada after fleeing the Nazis. She was the mother of seven children and thanks to her vigilant son, she died in September 2016 with a dignified end.
