Thanks to the courageous decision and quick thinking of a 12-year-old girl from Wisconsin, a four-year-old toddler was saved from being abducted.
The little angel is now safe with her parents.
When a creepy man took 4-year-old Caylee by the wrist and walked off with her, some older kids saw the incident and immediately sprang into action.
13-year-old Trinity Stout ran to inform Caylee’s parents, while brave Jada Miller, only 12, ran after the suspect.
“I just ran after Caylee. I didn’t know what could have happened next if I wouldn’t have run down there,” she expressed.
Jada added: “I felt that if I had stopped to ring the doorbell, if the parents were too busy doing something, they wouldn’t get to the door in time, so I just went down there and did my own business.”
After rescuing the child, Caylee tried to tell her parents what happened. “He grabbed my hand and told me to follow him.”
Jada said: “Caylee was like, ‘I’ll be back,’ and then I looked at him and said, ‘No she won’t!’”
“She probably didn’t even realize what was going on,” Jeff Carr, Caylee’s dad, said.
According to the residents, the 27-year-old suspect named Benjamin Spasogevich-Lee, who told them his name was Elijah, moved into the neighborhood a few months ago. He started displaying strange behavior, such as performing yoga in the front yard wearing only his underwear.
It was also discovered that Benjamin asked some children many questions, specifically about rape and kidnapping.
“When the bus came one day, he was stripping down to his underwear,” Carr recalled.
Caylee’s mother also reported to the authorities that the suspect “has exhibited weird behaviors such as jumping around in his front yard with his shirt off, sitting on his front porch and curb, all the while staring at the children, and going up and down the sidewalk with a soccer ball asking the children to play.”
Benjamin was charged with disorderly conduct and abduction of a child. A $15,000 bail was set, and even if he manages to get out, he will no longer be allowed to talk to anyone under the age of 18.
