15-year-old Stephanie Ray embraced her sweetheart, 16-year-old Blake Ward, a few moments before the doctors turned off his life support.
Blake was swept away from the shore during a family trip. He was one of the three teenagers rescued from the sea in Tywyn, Gwynedd in North West Wales.
It is thought that Blake went for a swim before he was swept out by strong currents. The 16-year-old was taken to Alder Hey Children’s Hospital in Liverpool, but he was then placed on life support.
Three lifeboats, two helicopters, two coastguard teams, police, and paramedics were called on Tuesday due to reports of boys missing in the water.
However, doctors and relatives came to a tough decision to turn off the equipment on Saturday morning, ending his life.
Before the incident, Stephanie shared a final moment of intimacy with her loving boyfriend. She stayed by his side the entire time, from when Blake was pulled from the water until the equipment was switched off.
In her last goodbye, Stephanie climbed into the hospital bed and hugged her much-loved boy.
Becky wrote on Facebook: “Blake, our beautiful, brave, kind-hearted, clever boy sadly passed away at 7.03 this morning.”
Stephanie shared the heartbreaking photo on her Facebook page with a message:
“Today has been the hardest day for me and it will be a day I will never be able to forget. As some of you may know Blake was involved in a terrible accident on Tuesday.
I have been by his side through it all and I haven’t left him. As you all know Blake was a loving a caring person and would do anything for anyone.
We was told yesterday that Blake would never recover and his brain was to damaged and we had to make the hard decision of turning his machine off and let him go.
But just know Blake wasn’t in any pain and he passed away with his family around him and he will forever be missed and he will always have a special place in my heart and I will never forget you Blake fly high my baby boy and I’m gonna make you proud love you and I always will.”
The condition of the other two boys is still unknown.
