The special camera, named Medusa, used advanced technology in order to lure in various animals found way below in the water bodies. The light used to lure in the animals was specially designed as normal infrared would be easily absorbed in deep waters.

Widder had previously used this technology back in Japan in 2012 when the first ever Giant Squid was ever caught on camera.  After the camera had completed its rounds, there were over 120 hours of footage with the creature being seen at the very end.

Robinson noticed the tentacles at first and was excited to see this majestic creature for the first time. He knew it was a Giant Squid after examining the size and shape of its body and the arrangement of the suckers on its tentacles.

Amazed with what they found underwater, the scientists say this will be a great step forward towards environmental conservation.

As said by Johnsen, people would try and conserve their natural habitat if they were shown the wonders of nature and its creatures.

People could see the beautiful creature they found and love its beauty which would eventually drive them to protect and conserve the environment for them to live in.
