People don’t usually associate a common feeling with a heart attack. They completely ignore the fact that it may be something serious and tend to wait until they feel back to normal.

The usual heart attack symptoms are experiencing sudden pain in chest and/or pain in left arm.

Women can experience less obvious heart attack signs as compared to men, according to the experts.

That’s why it is very important for women to learn about all the symptoms which indicate a heart attack.

There are five symptoms that are usually seen in women when they experience a heart attack. Some of the signs seem harmless and are very easy to ignore but the knowledge of these signs might be useful at times.

According to the cardiologist Sharonne Hayes, who is also the founder of a Women’s Heart Clinic, the most common heart attack symptom for both men and women is chest discomfort.

Chest discomfort is a feeling of a ton of pressure in your chest, to the point where it even becomes difficult for you to breathe properly.

Hayes also said that “profound fatigue that you don’t normally feel” is also a symptom that’s common.

George S. Abela, M.D. told Glamour magazine, “The symptoms in women vs. men are much less dramatic. That’s part of the issue that leads many women to ignore their symptoms.”

According to Nicole Weinberg, a cardiologist in Santa Monica, California, “Pretty much if anybody is having some sort of unusual symptom between their chin and belly button you have to pay attention.”

Vomiting is usually thought to just indicate an upset stomach but it is, in fact, a “common” symptom for a heart attack in women.

Weinberg told Glamour about a woman who had several teeth removed due to intense jaw pain. She later realized that the pain was caused by a heart attack.

Weinberg also happened to see a female who was suffering from back pain. The pain happened suddenly and got carried on through the day. The woman later learned that she was suffering from a heart attack.


George Abela, chief of the division of cardiology at Michigan State told Glamour that these symptoms are just simply shaken off or confused with other minor issues.
