Beau Haines took a short break to carry and took photos with his son, who was born on Christmas Eve only days after he started fighting fires on the south coast of New South Wales.

Luckily, the father managed to get back from the blazes just in time for the birth of his son.

Fellow volunteer firefighter Kurt Hickling said to Daily Mail that the photo shoot was one of the longest periods of time Mr. Haines had spent with his baby has he had to help battle the blazes.

“Beau and Cassie wanted a newborn shoot but it was hard to pin down a time because we all kept getting deployed,” he said. “It all just came together about a week after Spencer was born.

“Beau was back in town and we had the idea of doing it at the fire station.”

After the photoshoot, Mr. Haines was sent back out right away to stop the blazes.

Mr. Hickling, who also runs a photography business with his wife Charlyne, said the photos brought him to tears.

“We wanted to highlight how hard it is for firefighters to be away from their families for so long and the sacrifices they make, and we were wrapped with the way it turned out,” he expressed.

He said they called the photo ‘not all heroes wear capes’ to show the sacrifice of volunteers and firefighters make to fight blazes around the country.

“There’s so much negativity around, but this is something positive. Firefighters are people too and they have families who are worried they won’t come home,” added.

“We really wanted to highlight that.”
