A struggling lady has sought help on the internet following a bitter break-up with her husband.
As the woman in question explained in her Reddit post, she and her husband had split up after he got “tired” of her and decided to try “something new.”
To avoid causing any drama in their families, the couple agreed not to tell their friends and relatives about their breakup immediately.
After a while, however, the woman could no longer bear to hide her pain and pretend that everything is okay while talking to her friends and family members.
That’s when she told her husband it’s time to reveal the truth only for her ex to command her not to tell anyone they’d broken up because it would make him look bad.
“At first I agreed to his wishes and when people asked how my husband was doing I just said he’s doing good, busy, etc. but honestly I am growing increasingly uncomfortable with lying,” she explained.
“Yesterday he again told me that I’m not allowed to tell people and that I have to say we are still living together.”
Asking Reddit users for advice on dealing with this issue, the woman asked if there was some kind of protocol to address this and if telling the truth really had to be “a mutual decision.”
Soon enough, the woman’s post went viral with people slamming her ex and telling her to do whatever she wants without paying any attention to his selfish wishes.
“Your husband has screwed you over here and expects you to stay quiet so he doesn’t look bad? Hell. No. His behavior is outrageous. Tell everyone and get that divorce so you can start living your life! Also, if he comes crawling back at some point, tell him to get lost,” someone suggested.
“Not allowed?! You don’t need him to allow you to do things, whether or not you are together. He left you and he needs to deal with the consequences of family and friends knowing what kind of person he is. You do what you want and forget about him,” another said.
