64 years old Eddie Van Halen, was the rock star of his times.
While girls were crazy about him, guys wanted to be like him.
The guitarist had always lived his life to the fullest before he fell into the trap of cancer back in 2000.
In the year 2000, he was diagnosed with tongue cancer and because of the same he had to take several treatments and had to travel from America to Germany for the same.
In the year 2002, he was declared cancer-free and a major part of his tongue was removed for saving him from the disease.
Although Halen was declared cancer-free back in the year 2002, over the last 5 years, he has been reportedly traveling to and from Germany as he continues to take his medication.
Halen has had a history of heavy smoking but he believes he got cancer because of his pick.
He said in 2015 “I have always been a heavy smoker. I took a lot of drugs too. I could smoke up everything and it was all in heavy quantity. But this never got me sick. My lungs are all clean.
But cancer got me right on the place on my tongue where I used to keep my pick. I always had my metallic pick in my mouth and I believe that is what gave me cancer. Even my doctors believe that this could be a reason for the same when I told them about it.”
Steve Lukather, his friend said that the group started splitting up after the health issues came in. One after one, they all got sick from one disease of another and this led them to get their focus on their health first rather than music.
