Heartwarming video footage has emerged that shows a one-year-old boy with Down syndrome giggling after meeting his baby sister at his home.
33-year-old Ashlyn Williams and her husband Logan, from Richland Township, Arkansas, welcomed a baby girl Collyns in March.
The mother-of-seven thought Brooks – her one-year-old boy with Down syndrome – might feel jealous of his baby sister.
However, when the mother handed the one-week-old baby to Logan, the one-year-old couldn’t stop staring at his baby sister while giggling after meeting her for the first time at the hospital.
When the baby arrived at the home, Brooks was on cloud nine after meeting his baby sister at home and couldn’t stop smiling.
He stared at his little sister and kept smiling and giggling. When Ashlyn took away Collyns, Brooks was left in tears.
His mother can be heard asking in the video: ‘You want her back? Okay, okay, okay, okay.’
When the mother handed back the little baby, he started staring at her again while smiling.
Ashlyn said: “I can just tell they are going to be best friends. We weren’t sure how Brooks would react to having a baby around and whether he’d get jealous of having to share attention.”
She said Brooks is already in love with his baby sister and they are going to be best friends for sure.
The mother described her one-year-old as a ‘loving young boy’ and said they all were so happy with his adorable reaction.
Ashlyn said Brooks reacted the same way when he first met his baby sister at the hospital.
The parents had filmed the heartwarming moment and shared it online. The video instantly went viral online after it was posted and Brooks’ reaction melted people’s hearts.
