Dolly continued: “I just have to write what comes to me, and some things that don’t have to do with anything. An idea will come to me if it’s a love song, if it’s a happy song, if it’s a sad song.

“I think because I’ve been so emotional, and just being in tune with people and their sorrows with what’s going on and I’m a very emotional sensitive person and I just write all the time.

“It’s been great therapy for me. It’s been a great release for me feeling like I’m also being productive.”

The singer is also looking forward to spending the Christmas holiday with her siblings.

“There’s 12 of us. There are six girls, six boys… we have a lot of mouths to feed. Everytime momma had a baby, we all had to help take care of it,” she shared.

“I think that’s why she kept having kids, so she’d have somebody to babysit. But we did it, it was just a natural way of life. We were always excited when we heard mom was having a new baby.

“We try to get as many of us together as we can at Christmas… The ones who live in Nashville, we try to get together as much as we can.”
