Photos shared by his owner show 9-year-old Harry resting his head on a dog mat where his best pal, George, used to sleep before he was euthanized aged 15.

Caitlin from Cheshire shared the heartbreaking photo on Twitter and wrote: “I’m full on crying rn…he always let George sleep there and he died almost a year ago and he still lies there.”

Speaking about her dogs’ relationship, 17-year-old Caitlin said that George found his loving home with her back in 2004 when he was one year old. Harry was also brought in as a young pup.

The two grew up and did almost everything together, eating, playing, and sleeping.

Unfortunately, George’s health deteriorated last year after he was diagnosed with kidney failure and his human family was forced to end his sufferings.

Harry grieved at the loss of his best pal, and ever since then, he never sleeps in George’s spot. He hopes that one day, George will return again.

“I slept on the sofa the night before we had George put to sleep to keep him company and Harry was pacing around the room crying, and wouldn’t sleep all night as if he knew something was wrong.

“We took Harry to the vets with us when George was put to sleep and stayed next to him the whole time. Harry grieved for a couple of weeks.

“His tail was down and he wouldn’t socialise or eat any treats.

“Almost a year on and he clearly still misses George! He sleeps on the floor to the side of the bed now quite often but I didn’t realise why until I was looking through photos of them both from a year ago and saw the photo I tweeted which made me realise.”

There is no doubt that George is watching over them from heaven.
