Federal authorities are now handling Perwaiz’s case.

NBC also reported that Perwaiz was an obstetrician-gynecologist in VA.

At one point, he said to a woman that a hysterectomy was required after discovering the ‘imminent onset’ of cancer, documents revealed.

The court papers said that the woman refused and asked for a less invasive operation, which only her ovaries were removed.

But when she finally woke up from the procedure, “she was shocked to discover Perwaiz performed a total abdominal hysterectomy.”

The doctor cut the woman’s bladder, causing sepsis and needing a 6-day stay in a hospital, according to investigators.

When the patient received her medical records, cancer was not mentioned and the procedure was described as ‘elective.’

Court documents reviewed by NBC also revealed that in another incident, a woman who was treated by Perwaiz for an ectopic pregnancy discovered that she wouldn’t be able to conceive a child naturally as her fallopian tubes ‘were burnt down to the nubs, making natural conception impossible.’

Another woman had also gone to the doctor for post-menopausal bleeding problems. However, Perwaiz performed a hysterectomy and said in medical records that the female patient suffered from persistent cramping, pressure and chronic pelvic pain.

According to NBC, the woman said to investigators she didn’t experience any of those symptoms and that the doctor told her she would get cancer if she didn’t undergo the procedure.

Many other patients also claim that Perwaiz would use cancer to scare them into having surgery.
