A young deaf boy who “has no friends” has received a stunning birthday surprise after his mother issued a heartbreaking plea on social media.
As Natasha James revealed, her 9-year-old son, Dylan James, who is deaf and has autism, has had no friends ever since he lost contact with his classmates after quitting school to attend treatment.
As the boy’s birthday was approaching fast, the mother knew she had to act fast to prepare an unforgettable surprise.
And so, James came up with a touching online plea in hopes she would convince someone to send her son a birthday card.
Following the mum’s plea, a total of over 700 Good Samaritans from all over the world have sent special birthday cards to Dylan in an attempt to make his birthday more memorable.
“The response we had from strangers was completely overwhelming. People were contacting us saying they would like to buy him something and what sort of card would he want,” UK-based Natasha said.
“They were absolutely brilliant. We thought we might get about 100, which would have made it very special. But the last count we had 714.
“They were still putting things through the door right up until his birthday and leaving presents on the doorstep. We have been inundated with cards and little gifts. The postman had to knock on the door every day and they had to come in a special van. Some days there were 10, other days there were 50.”
Speaking of the acts of kindness, the proud mum said she feels “grateful” to all the people who contributed to making Dylan’s 9th birthday a special day.
