Even though the world can sometimes be a scary place, there will always be people who will watch over the kids going to school despite the weather condition.
Children usually roam the streets without any concern for their safety. Some students also cross the road without looking to their left and right. Fortunately, there are crossing guards who keep them safe.
A public safety officer stands guard at intersections pupils have to cross every day to attend their classes. They help children cross the roads safe from drivers distracted by other passengers, radio, coffee, or makeup. When the weather is nice, these guards greet everyone with smiles on their faces.
In North Carolina, winters can be extremely cold and unforgiving, leaving some people in no mood to exchange conversations or smile.
But for one crossing guard for Trask Middle School, freezing winters cannot stop her from giving the kids warm greetings. Known to the youngsters as Ms. Minnie, she has been accompanying children to the streets for 19 years. She’s been doing this for so long that she doesn’t expect drivers to pay attention to her.
One teacher for a local high school named Kayla Thomas pays attention to Ms. Minnie. She was shocked to see the crossing guard lead some of the children to her vehicle parked near the junction she minds every morning. Amazed by what she saw, Thomas quickly took her phone to take a picture.
Since the world is becoming suspicious, seeing a crossing guard leading kids to a car can be a cause for concern. But if you will wait for a minute more, you will see something incredible near the trunk of her car!
Kayla posted the photo on Facebook and wrote:
“Today I noticed that she had a rack of coats by her car, and signs saying “free coats” posted everywhere.point 143 | It took every ounce of restraint in my body not to put the car in park and get out and hug this woman, to thank her for using her free time to keep our students safe and for giving coats to people who may not have them.point 316 |

Ms. Minnie brings coats and gives them to the children in need without asking for anything in return. Her kindness is not only limited to cold seasons! The crossing guard is also known for passing out school supplies and handing out umbrellas to kids during rainy days. Her positivity encourages kids to come to school.
