A couple has been left embarrassed after sending a failed mirror selfie to parents only to reveal more than they wanted to.

Kelsey Poole is a 22-year-old who was recently on a vacation in Turkey with her 23-year-old boyfriend, Elliot.

While on their trip far from home, Kelsey thought it would be nice of them to update her parents from Suffolk, UK, by sending them a photo from the hotel.

After taking a mirror selfie, Kelsey instantly sent the picture to her mom without a second doubt. What she didn’t realize, however, that a bottle of lubricant was seen at the bottom of the picture’s frame.

While the teens didn’t notice the Durex bottle captured in their selfie, the girl’s parents sure did.

“Dad said the pics r lovely, nice durex bottle,” the girl’s mother replied. Trying to fix the mess, Kelsey claimed that the bottle of lube was, in fact, Elliot’s knee cream.

Good try, but Kelsey’s parents didn’t fall for it. “Dad zoomed in!” the mother responded. “Ell is mortified,” Kelsey replied along with a bunch of laughing emojis.

“I was genuinely just updating my mum on my holiday so sent her a few different photos without realizing the bottle of lube,” Kelsey later explained in an interview with LADbible.

“It was just my mum I sent it to, but obviously she was showing my dad the photos and he noticed the bottle – my mum was oblivious.

“I thought it was hilarious and just made a joke of it – I said knee cream because my boyfriend genuinely has a dodgy knee. My boyfriend was absolutely mortified and he couldn’t believe I didn’t notice it in the pictures, although he does laugh about it now.”

While Elliot was left ashamed by the incident, Kelsey revealed things didn’t go bad for the pair when they returned back home and visited her family.

“It was actually fine when we got home. My parents can luckily see the funny side of things. Although I was really laughing reading out some of the twitter replies and my dad said he doesn’t want to hear,” she added.

“My mum brought it up actually and kept laughing at my dad’s reaction. Apparently, he zoomed in and said ‘oh lovely I didn’t really need to see that.’”
