An honest cleaner decided to hand over £300,000 ($400,000) to the police after he found the large sum of cash in a giant envelope on a bus he was cleaning.
The Cordant Cleaning staff member, who remains anonymous, allegedly found the cash when there were no people around him.
Despite being able to take the money for himself, the cleaner decided it would be best if he submitted it to the Met police as he didn’t know who the money was from or where did it come from.
According to the Cordant Cleaning, the strange finding caught the cleaner by surprise despite the staff being used to coming across all kinds of lost and forgotten items on buses.
In other reported instances, travelers left behind various unusual items such as positive pregnancy tests and a deep fryer.
Still, there are much worse things to come across if you work as a bus cleaner. As the people working in the cleaning industry admitted, their colleagues came across unsavory objects such as used nappies, contraception, and sex toys while providing their service.
Recently, the cleaners of a bus in Southampton also reported coming across a pool of vomit that contained false teeth in it.
Nevertheless, this wasn’t the worst finding according to the Cordant Cleaning staff. One time, the cleaners found a used tampon hanging from a handrail and a fresh animal heart under a seat.
Speaking of the tough job, Guy Pakenham of Cordant Cleaning said:
“More often than not I’m left shocked when my team tell me about the disgusting things they have to get rid of when cleaning buses up and down the UK.
“But I can only praise their dedication and good humor. They don’t seem to be fazed by anything. Thankfully our staff are fully trained and equipped to deal with cleaning hazards like these.
“But we can only urge passengers that next time they defecate on the floor of a bus, or throw up their own false teeth, please remember to take all of your items with you.”
