A sanitation worker drank water from a toilet to prove to her bosses how well she does her job.
According to a report, the sanitation worker in China offered to drink the water from the squat toilet she had cleaned to show her bosses that he had done her work properly.
The company then praised the woman for her devotion to work and called her an ‘exemplary employee.’
The 32-second video was filmed in a fertilizer company in Shandong Province in eastern China, Daily Mail reported. It quickly went viral and sparked a heated debate on social media platforms.
In the clip, a woman can be seen scooping the water from a toilet using a small plastic cup. She then drank it in front of the higher-ups to show her devotion to work.
She also said that doing so will encourage herself to work better.
The people who watched her gulped the toilet water down gave her a round of applause.
While tap water is not safe for ingesting in the country, the company said that its water in toilets was safe to drink.
One person commented: “I don`t understand how they can say that the water was safe to drink when the tap water in China is not, surely the water used to flush the toilet come from the same source as the tap water, in other words, the same water.”
Another wrote: “Obviously an exemplary employee but this demonstration is quite unnecessary and should have been stopped by employer.”
A third added: “I feel sorry that she felt the need to prove that.”
Some claimed that the cleaner was only forced to drink the water from the toilet.
