A woman who was born with just one arm has proudly posed with a glass prosthetic in an inspiring Cinderella-themed photoshoot.
Despite being born different, Mandy Pursley didn’t let her missing arm hold her back when it came to cosplaying as one of her favorite Disney princesses, Cinderella.
To inspire others who live with similar disabilities, Mandy has traded the iconic glass shoe for a glass arm when she appeared in front of the camera for a photoshoot.
“When I was growing up with a physical difference, I never saw girls like myself represented in the media, so it took me a long time to realize that what makes us different can also be the thing that makes us strong, beautiful, and unapologetically unique,” Ms. Pursley wrote in her Facebook post.
“When my daughter was studying Cinderella stories at school last year, I realized that even though there were so many beautiful tales from around the world, there were still no princesses who looked like ME.”
And so, Mandy and her prince charming, marine husband Ryan, came up with a brilliant idea to make the mum’s dreams come true.
“What do you do when you can’t find a princess like you? You make up your own! I spent countless hours sewing Cinderella’s ballgown and her Prince’s uniform. This whole project was done with a lot of love,” Mandy added.
Speaking of the one-of-a-kind photo shoot to KNSD, the real-life Cinderella said:
“I felt like a real princess and it really felt like a dream was coming true. Honestly, I cried because it was so beautiful and amazing to see this be a reality.
“I think it sends a really great message to little girls, especially. You can be creative. You can be beautiful. You can be the main character in your own story.”
