The heartbreaking letter reads in English: “My name is Andrés and I am 12 years old. My mom and I decided to leave my dog in your hands, hiding it from my dad because he is thinking about selling him. But he mistreats and kicks him.

It continued: “One day he kicked him so hard that he hurt his tail. I hope you can help and take care of him. I left him a stuffed animal so he won’t forget me.”

Over 300 people from all over the country requested to adopt the adorable pooch, who has been named Rene. It seems the shelter hasn’t decided yet on who will be Rene’s new owner as the pit bull is still in their care.

The shelter also reminded people that 120 other puppies need forever homes.

“If everyone opened their heart and their home like this little dog, they would have adopted all our dogs from the shelter,” the shelter wrote on Facebook.

One internet user commented: “Bless the young lad, but now it is all over the web.. I cannot help but worry for the boy and his mothers, safety. Animal bullies are often also familial abusers.”

Another wrote: “God bless Andrs and his mother for keeping the puppy safe. May He protect them as well… They have beautiful souls!”

A third added: “I hope the cruel dad doesn’t take his anger out on this dear little boy. How sad: get him and his mom out of there.”
