10-Year-Old Boy Invented A Life-Saving Device To Prevent Hot-Car Deaths After Neighbor’s Baby Passed Away From Being In A Hot Car

Do you know since 1998 around 712 children have died from heatstroke in the US alone after being left in hot vehicles?

Still, people leave their children and pets in hot vehicles. But, a 10-year-old boy, Bishop Curry from McKinney thought to stop this after his neighbor’s 6-month-old infant died from being in an overheated car.

Bishop decided to prevent this and created a life-saving device. He invented a device called ‘Oasis’ that monitors the temperature inside the car. Once the vehicle gets to a certain level, the device starts emitting cool air and alerts parents and authorities via an antenna.

“It kind of came in my head,”

“I got lots of help from my parents,” Bishop told HuffPost of his device, the Oasis.

Although, Bishop only has a 3D clay model of the device, his father, Bishop Curry IV, has started a GoFundMe campaign for the Oasis in January that so far has managed to raise over $24,000 for their life-saving device.

Attorneys have advised the family that the minimum amount they’d need for prototyping and manufacturing fees, as well as a patent for the device, is $20,000.

“They want to work for me,” Bishop said.

Bishop wants to center his career around inventions, including the time machine when he grows up. At the moment, he is busy creating this life-saving device that can prevent hot car deaths.
