The family of five was asleep when the fire broke out at around 11:30 pm on December 8.

Parents Nicole and Chris Davidson quickly jumped into action, with the husband using a fire extinguisher so she could grab their kids – Eli, 7, Elijah, 2, and Erin, 22 months old.

Nicole managed to take the two boys out of their bedroom but she couldn’t get into Erin’s room.

“I grabbed the boys because they were closest to the fire,” Nicole told WVLT.

As soon as the four of them made it outside, Chris helped 7-year-old Eli climb into baby Erin’s bedroom window so the young boy could save the sleeping tot.

Eli quickly grabbed his little sister from her crib and handed her to his father before jumping out from the window.

The father-of-three told CNN that the “smoke and fire was so thick” it was impossible to get to Erin’s room from the inside of their burning home.

“We went outside to get to her from the window, but there was nothing for me to stand on to reach up there. So I picked up Eli, who went through the window and was able to grab her from her crib,” he shared.

“We couldn’t be more proud of Eli,” Chris added. “He did something a grown man wouldn’t do.”

Eli also told WVLT: “It’s okay to be scared, but you’re brave inside and you can do it when you want to.”

Chris and Nicole have fostered more than 30 children over the years, including Eli. They have also adopted 2-year-old Elijah and Erin.
