As Makowski explained to the authorities, he always kept his gun locked away in his police car so that his children couldn’t come in touch with it.

The state trooper was shot on February 22 at around 11 pm. The paramedics found him in the master bedroom and took him to a local hospital where he is now “steadily improving.”

Before the authorities arrived at the family home, Matt’s wife was forced to hide because her son kept on walking around with his father’s gun and a taser even after the shooting.
