A Bodybuilding Grandma Shared Her Daily Routine And Hopes Her Physique Will Inspire Others


A grandmother hopes her incredible physique will also encourage others to do what they love without worrying about the opinions of others.

48-year-old Robin Hills from Ontario, Canada said that she was always into fitness but it was in 1989 when she joined a gym and fell in love with bodybuilding.

She took part in a competition in 1993 and got herself second place.

Even after two pregnancies, Robin made sure to stay healthy and fit, and carried on training hard even as a busy mother.

With 17inch biceps, Robin now weighs 88.9kg.

A mother to 21-year-old Courtney and 23-year-old Katey, and also a grandmother to 1-year-old Wynter, 2-year-old Avianna, and 3-year-old Abel, Robin said: “I was tall and skinny but very athletic. I was an average student, but I grew up playing basketball, volleyball, running track, baseball.

“After high school I didn’t want to get out of shape so joined a gym and fell into bodybuilding and was addicted right away.

“Before this I was quiet, shy and a bit awkward with normal insecurities kids have.

“Now I love how I look and feel. I am very confident and enjoy life and still love to laugh. I get a mixed variety of reactions but mostly positive. I rarely get negative comments on my social media or in person.”

She continued: “I don’t think it’s harder to achieve these results after having children, but it also depends on everyone’s hormonal profile, metabolism and lifestyles.

“Yes, I do [hope to be an inspiration to mums and grans] and I also hope I inspire younger girls to do what they love and not pay attention to people’s opinions. I hope I inspire everyone to love themselves and do what makes them happy.”

Robin eats five meals a day but she doesn’t count her calories. She wakes up at 6 am, do 20 minutes of cardio before having her breakfast – spinach, two whole eggs and a cup of egg whites.

Her second meal consists of cucumbers, 5oz chicken, spices and sugar-free ketchup. She then goes to gym where she does a combination of cardio and weight training, and also spends ten minutes in the sauna.

After gym, she eats 3oz yam and 5oz steak then takes her adorable dog for a walk. Then, her fourth meal consists of 5oz chicken or fish with cucumbers and rice.

Her last meal is one whole egg, one cup of egg whites, avocado and spinach. She then spends 20 minutes on the treadmill before going to bed.

“I had a rough time building my legs as I am about 5ft 9in so I had to change my mental approach to training them. Meaning I needed to grow some balls and train harder,” Robin shared.

“It has taught me patience as it takes time to achieve your goals, and to be persistent when trying to achieve your goals. Lastly it has taught me to believe in myself.
