When his beloved daughter, Sheyra, set the date for her wedding, Manoj could not have been more happy about it. In fact, he was so thrilled that he actually set aside about $11 million for his daughter’s wedding.

Then, instead of planning out such lavish wedding, Manoj came up with another plan: to build 90 homes for the homeless.

And when her daughter, soon-to-be-bride, heard about her father’s decision, she was satisfied with it as well.

She said, “I am very happy with the decision and will consider it as my marriage gift.”

Anyone can apply to live in these new houses, if they fit into these three criteria: those who currently live in a slum, with financial issues, with no addiction problems.

Not only do these 12 by 20 feet houses come with two windows and electricity, they also provide filtered water for the residents, which is rare in India.

By the time of Sheyra’s wedding, 90 houses were built for those in need.

When interviewed about his act of kindness, Manoj said that what he did should not be considered special; in fact, he stated that those who can should help the poor.

“This is the new chapter in history and I hope that the same concept will be followed by the other rich communities,” said Manoj. He also added, “We have some responsibilities towards our society.”

What an amazing way to celebrate the good news, and provide support for the helpless!
