Pets are amazing.

They are always thrilled to see you, and are willing to hang out with you anytime you want.
Plus, they are always beside you to comfort you whenever you’re feeling down.

For Lynn Bakker, a 6-year-old living in Den Helder, Holland, the first friend she’s ever made became her best friend.

Meet her family dog named Jaden, Lynn’s best friend ever since Lynn was born.
They did everything together, and Lynn’s dad, Jeffrey, made sure to capture each precious moment shared by this amazing duo.

Jaden was always very patient with Lynn, even when she wanted him to dress up as a Queen.

However, it was clear that Lynn and Jaden won’t be able to be with each other forever.

At the age of 13, Jaden’s physical functions were slowly shutting down. Since the average life expectancy of a bulldog is about eight to ten years, the Bakker family knew that Jaden did not have much time left.

As time went by, Jaden was losing his ability to hear, to see, and to walk.

Worried about Jaden’s condition, the Bakker family decided to take him to the vet.

After a close examination, the vet told the family that they should maybe consider the option of putting Jaden to sleep. Because he was so old, Jaden was only going to get worse, and he was going to be in a lot of pain.

Even though Lynn’s parents may have been prepared to let go, Lynn clearly wasn’t.

There’s only so much you can handle as a 6-year-old.

Eventually, the time came when Lynn had had to say goodbye to her first best friend.
Just as Jaden was beside her at all times, Lynn was right there with him during his final moments.

Although Lynn was sad to see him go, Jeffrey reports that she seems to be recovering from the experience.

“Lynn was very sad at first but now there are no more tears and she talks about him with happy memories, and we hope that’s how she will always remember him,” said Jeffrey.

When reading about Lynn and Jaden, I was so touched by their incredibly special friendship.
