Military Woman Entered A Bar And Ordered Beer For Her Late Brother Who Died Serving The Country

It was just another ordinary afternoon at the Buffalo Wild Wings in Washington when a military woman and her friend walked in for lunch.

Along with the meal the woman ordered two beers, a Corona and a Blue Moon. Server Brian Avey was reluctant to take the order due to Company policy. The policy only allowed customers to order one drink at a time.

After a brief exchange, Brian decided by himself to grant the woman her wish against company policy. The reason she ordered two beers was that one was for her brother who had fallen while serving in the military.

The woman explained that the beer was in honor of her late brother’s service and bravery in Iraq and for all other soldiers who did not make it back home.

Brian when asked what made him go against policy, he simply answered, “I’ve never seen that happen before, and it touched me,” he had to try and brighten her day somehow.

Once served the two beers, the woman placed the Corona at the end of the table as she ate her lunch.

Touched by her gesture, Avey explained to the woman that Buffalo Wild Wings would take up the bill for the brother’s bill in honour of his service for the nation.

The woman decided to leave a small thank-you note on the receipt. The note read;

 “Thank you. An act of kindness goes a long way. It means a lot to me. Have a great rest of your day. — Grateful Soldiers.”

Avey did not feel it right to throw away the beer after the woman left the restaurant. He came up with a great idea to honour the fallen soldier.

He asked his manager, Dan Banale if it was okay to retain the bottle of Corona as it symbolized the height of bravery and sacrifice towards America. Dan obliged but requested Avey to place a fresh slice of lime every morning on the mouth of the bottle to keep it fresh.

He placed the beer beside an American flag for another fallen soldier on top of a cooler.

The restaurant has had hundreds of calls thanking them for such a wonderful gesture towards soldiers in the line of duty.

 “At first it was just for her and her brother, but now it has become a memorial for all fallen soldiers,” said Dan the restaurant manager.

The Corona filled beer bottle has remained beside the flag, and as promised, Avey continues to replace the lime every morning.
