But not everybody is so lucky. For those who are lucky enough to buy cars, we all know that technology is always evolving and hence the features on phones, cars or do we say anything that is automated are always changing day in and day out.

Newer cars come with safety measures that will ensure that your car runs smoothly and hence you are able to arrive at your destination safe and on time. These are features that block conflicting commands and at the same time warn the driver on any potential issues.

Like any other things there are tips or rules that ensure their smooth running so don’t be surprised when I tell you there are actually rules that you should follow if you are a car owner. Auto mechanics advise that you should never do them to your car.

Car Rule 1: The ignition Key

You should never attach to many keys in the same key chain as the ignition key. This goes without saying because it is so obvious that the weight of the keys will weigh down the key and eventually might end up damaging your ignition switch over a given period of time.

Car Rule 2: The off-engine button

Auto mechanics warn everybody that they should never press the off engine while driving. The results may be fatal but if one is driving at a reasonable speed and they happen to press the button nothing bad will happen. But this does not mean that anyone should.

Car Rule 3: The Reverse Command

It is recommended that while driving one should never select the reverse command. Though technology has changed and modern cars may ignore the command, it is still not a safe move. Do not test this one out because the results may be catastrophic.

Car Rule 4: The Park command

Just like the reverse rule, auto mechanics advise drivers that they should never select the park command while they are driving. As we said earlier, technology is evolving and hence just like the reverse command, your car will ignore the command but auto mechanics warn that such a move may end up damaging your car.

Car Rule 5: The engine

Any car comes with a dipstick that has a full point indicated on it. Auto mechanics therefore advise us to use the dipstick and ensure that you fill it to the point indicated and not overfill. Overfilling the engine may have negative effects on your car like smoke emitting from all over your car and even cause failure.

Car Rule 6: The Curb Rule

It is highly advisable that if one hits a curb they take their car to the mechanics so that they can ensure that the wheels are balanced and in perfect alignment. When the wheels of a car are not balanced or properly aligned one may not have good control of the car and we know that this can be so risky. It is always good to be safe than be sorry.

Car Rule 7: The oil

Anything new comes with an instruction menu and there it is highly advisable that you follow the manufacturer’s specifications when it comes to changing your car’s oil. This is because new cars come with thin oil that may require to be changed after 1000 km.

Car Rule 8: The Fuel Tank Rule

Auto mechanics also advise us that we should not wait until the fuel tank is empty in order to refill. In fact they advise that one should refill when the tank get to about one-quarter. This is so because petrol sometimes may have particles in it at gravity will keep it at the bottom and therefore if you drive on an empty tank you will be driving on the fumes which will eventually get stuck on the engine. And we all know that this can be good.

The tips may seem simple or obvious but they might go a long way into saving lives especially because a mistake on the road may lead to catastrophic results.
