Australian Tourists Are Struck Down With A Flu On Their Flights Back From Bali


Australians claim that they are being hit with flu on their return flights from Bali.

One passenger named Hayley Taylor said that on Thursday she was taken to hospital after flying back from her holiday on a Jetstar flight as she had a high fever and other flu-related symptoms.

She wrote on Facebook group Bali Bogans: ‘’There was a gentleman on the plane with a violent cough, I hope he has had himself checked over,’’

Another woman Danica Bianca also faced the same as on May 3 after returning from a trip to Bali, she was also taken to hospital and tested positive for Influenza A.

‘’I traveled the Air Asia flight leaving Denpasar to Perth on 7:10 am,’’ Danica wrote on the group’s page.

Danica said that after catching the virus she was treated with antibiotics and she had informed the Western Australia Department of Health.

‘’The surfaces most likely to spread viruses are the harder shinier ones like plastic and steel that you find in touchscreen, air controls, tray tables and perhaps armrests,’’ Dr. Mackay told Daily Mail Australia.

‘’Travelers who have been affected won’t get sick while on the plane, as it takes about two days for symptoms to show.’’

‘’An infected person can suddenly develop a fever and chills, exhaustion, headache, muscle aches, cough and chest discomfort.’’

One woman, Traci Cox was also hit with the flu after her trip to Bali in April.

He has also advised passengers that before their flight they should get a flu shot.

‘’Travelers may think they are susceptible to catching the flu virus when traveling on planes but the air is actually well filtered,’’ Dr. Mackay said.

A spokesman from Jetstar told Daily Mail Australia: ‘’If customers have an illness that could make it unsafe for them to travel we require them to let us know.’’

‘’Some illnesses may prevent customers from flying and we set out advice for travelers on our website.’’
