Formed by the combination of words diabetes and bulimia, Diabulimia is an eating disorder that occurs to people who are suffering from type 1 diabetes. Females are the most affected gender by this eating disorder.
According to reports, around 30% of teens tend to hold their insulin treatments just to shed some pounds. There is no particular cause of Diabulimia. Some doctors claim that it results from stress and trauma.
Diabulimia at its worst can lead to high blood sugar levels, confusion, muscle loss, high cholesterol, bacterial infections, diabetic ketoacidosis, sugar in the urine, etc., which can all lead to several other major diseases.
