29-year-old Dan Saunders enjoyed a millionaire’s lifestyle for a while when he spent around $1.6 million on trips to private islands, lavish shopping sprees, and expensive alcohol.

Dan, who hails from Wangaratta, in north-eastern Victoria found an ATM hack that gave him access to free money. He found a technical glitch in the National Australia Bank’s ATM in February 2011. It gave him access to millions wherever and whenever he wanted.

Dan was given access to $999,999.99 every day, and ultimately he withdrew $1.6 million over a period of four and a half months.

Dan said it wasn’t about the money he accessed, but it was the experiences and what he could do with the magic ATM card.

He said he has always admired people who actually live this sort of life and wanted to experience it, however, life isn’t fair to all people.

Dan said he asked his friends about their dreams and made them come true with the money he had access to. Well, his dream wasn’t only to enjoy a lavish lifestyle but to also see people living out their fantasies and have a great time.

Dan bought designer clothes for himself and bought everything for his friends and family to whatever they fancied.

He also enjoyed spending money on private jets, limousines, five-star hotels, and high-class hookers.

One time he flew two hookers by chopper to the Blue Mountains to stay at a $2000/night Emirates Resort.

However, in June 2011, there was a change in heart after all the debauchery. Dan turned himself in as he realized that he had become a sort of an international criminal.

He could have transferred all the money to an overseas account and flew the country, but he called the bank and revealed everything.

At that time, the issue was under police investigation. He didn’t disappear because he didn’t want to leave his friends and family behind.

He spent a year in jail and was fined $250,000. He is now back to his $22/hour barman job and says he has no regrets.
