‘Unicorn’ Puppy Has A Tail Growing Out Of His Head

A rescue organization has saved a stray pup who has a tail growing out of his head.

The cute little thing was found wandering in Missouri streets before he was rescued by Mac’s Mission – an organization that helps dogs with disabilities.

The 10-week-old dog was named Narwhal because his protuberance looks like a tusk.

Speaking to PA, Rochelle Steffen, the founder of the rescue center, said: “He’s literally the most magical thing you’ve ever seen, and so happy.

“Everybody wants to see him. I’ve had so many volunteers have come over and said ‘Hey, can we play with Narwhal?’

“And it’s now become the thing to take selfies with him because he’s just so cute.”

An X-ray conducted showed that Narwhal’s emerging ‘tail’ had no bones in it. Fortunately, the vet found the pooch to be totally healthy.

Steffen said: “Everybody has said that it looks like a tail that just didn’t develop fully, like he might have tried to absorb a twin and it just didn’t work all the way.

“It kind of curls right down under his eyes. We deal with such unique animals here that we love to let them keep their uniqueness.”

Steffen said Narwhal is a ‘normal, happy, healthy puppy’ who gets a lot of attention due to his extraordinary cuteness.

“Everyone sees him and they literally want to rip him out of my arms immediately,” she said.

“It’s been really good for our itty-bitty rescue to have such a rock star in our midst because all this attention is helping so many of our other dogs.

“He loves it, he’s like, ‘who’s going to hold me next?’ He’s just this little anomaly that’s absolutely perfect.”

Steffen said they wouldn’t remove the second tail unless it starts growing inward or gets in his eyes.

She added that the organization would put him on adoption only after they are fully satisfied that the tail wouldn’t cause problems for the pup in the future.

“We don’t want to adopt him out and two weeks later it does become a problem,” she said.

Mac’s Mission rescues ‘janky’ animals who would otherwise not ‘get a chance anywhere else.’

Steffen said they have rescued a number of special animals in the past – including dogs with cleft palates and mange, blind and deaf animals, as well as a three-legged dachshund and a dog with five legs – but none of them came close to Narwhal in cuteness.
