A couple in Pennsylvania have been arrested after their baby passed away from a drug overdose and their 11-year-old had cocaine in his system.
Thomas Snelsire and Tracy Humphreys, both 45, are now facing criminal homicide charges over the death of 1-year-old Thomas.
Police were called to their home in Baldwin on September 13 after the child was found unconscious.
According to the criminal complaint, Thomas had been dead for ‘some time due to the condition of his body.’ He was discovered wrapped in a blanket on the front porch of the property.
Officers searched the property and found a plastic straw in the baby’s crib with ‘white powder’ in it.
Police also discovered heroin, cocaine, and pills in the home.
An autopsy found that the child had fentanyl in his system and had passed away from an overdose.
Officers also performed a drug test on the couple’s other child, and results revealed he had cocaine in his system.
Snelsire and Humphreys are additionally facing drug possession and child endangerment charges.
According to WPXI, a detective ‘filed two separate child endangerment reports on the couple earlier this year.’
But a Children & Youth Services caseworker completed an inspection of the property in August and found no evidence of drug use.
The couple remain behind bars.
A relative has set up a GoFundMe page for baby Thomas’ funeral.
Samantha Snelsire wrote: “Tommy brought his family so much pride and joy. He was such a happy baby and his family would like to see Little Tommy off in the most respectful way possible.
“Little Tommy will truly be missed and a part of his family’s life will forever be broken due to this unpredictable and tragic accident.”
