Even after officially retiring from all public duties as royalty, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex remain figures of great interest for the public.
Meghan Markle’s star power was once again shown on display as she was given a spot on a forum reserved for the most influential women around the globe.
The former actor of Suits fame has been allotted 15 minutes speaking time on Fortune’s Most Powerful Women Summit Virtual. During her time, she is said to discuss about the necessity of humane tech in an one-on-one conversation with a journalist.
Although the summit is being conducted virtually, it has maintained its extremely high entrance fee. Only those who have purchased a $13,000 ticket will be given invitation to these forums, where they get to socialize and learn from those who lead the global businesses.
According to a reporter that specializes in reporting on the royals, Markle is said to discuss about how online experiences can affect offline communities and opinions. She is said to mention how this is one of the important objectives of Archewell, the organization that she and Harry established.
Considering that the forum is scheduled to be a three-hour event, the 15 minutes of time given to Markle does not seem like a big portion. At the same time, some have questioned whether Markle has the expertise to and requirements to speak in this vaunted forum for women.
The journalist who will poise the questions to the Duchess is Fortune’s senior editor Ellen McGirt. In particular, since McGirt specializes in philanthropy and leadership, it is being predicted that much of the conversation will be to promote the goals of Archewell.
Although it is not clear as of now if Meghan is being paid to give her speech, the Duke and Duchess did sign a deal with the Harry Walker Agency, which is known to manage a host of other world famous individuals such as the Clintons.
After they retired from public duty as royalty, the couple launched Archewell foundation as their brand to work with. The name is lauded as a clever one as it means source of action in Greek and is the name of their son Archie.
