412lbs Woman Has Lost Half Of Her Body Weight In Just 15 Months

A 412lbs woman, from Columbus, Ohio, has lost half of her body weight in just 15 months after joining a fitness programme.

26-year-old Katelyn Broughton decided to lose weight over a year ago and has lost 230lbs – almost half of her body weight in 15 months.

The mother-of-one started her weight loss journey after she had to get a tonsillectomy.

When she checked her weight, she was left shocked.

She told Barcroft TV: “January of 2017 I had to get a tonsillectomy, I hadn’t really like weight myself in a while and before my surgery, I had to be weighed.”

“It was a huge shock, it wasn’t a shock that I was overweight, it was just what I was used to being and how I thought I was going to always be, but just to see that number it seemed very surreal.”

Katelyn started exercising regularly and then joined a fitness programme.

She lost 37 pounds within a month.

But after losing almost half of her body weight, she was left with a lot of extra skin.

Katelyn said: “It is definitely worth losing the weight, I would never tell anyone that being overweight is better than having to loose skin, I would definitely rather have that but they both have their complications.”

She had her first skin removal surgery in December but she still has a lot of extra skin. She is planning for another skin removal surgery.

To raise money for the skin removal surgeries, she has set up a GoFundMe page.

Even after losing half of her body weight, she never fails to go to the fitness studio as she says that her confidence comes from working out.

“It is a big part of my life even now my stomach is not perfect but I am okay with that. I am happy that I can just pull my pants and then button them, I don’t have to go around and tuck in all my skin.”

“Once I have all my surgeries done, I am just going to maintain a healthier lifestyle. There are a lot of positive things that come along with that and I think improving my workouts and my confidence.”
