4-Year-Old Got Drunk After Waitress Accidentally Poured Alcohol In Kid’s Glass

Have you ever been to a pizzeria only to receive a horrendous pineapple pizza rather than the double pepperoni pizza you asked for? While their weight and impact vary, mistakes are what makes us human.

For one father, however, the error that one restaurant committed was unforgivable. See why for yourself!

Mark Thomas and his fiancée Kate went for a burger to Frankie & Benny’s together with Evelyn, Mark’s 4-year-old daughter. They were delivering Christmas cards from door to door which made Evelyn very thirsty. When they reached the restaurant, she quickly ordered an apple-orange-grenadine drink.

The problem wasn’t in receiving warm juice, but in the fact that it wasn’t juice at all! As she was thirsty, Evelyn took a considerable gulp right away. She immediately frowned and complained about the taste. This surprised her father because the girl is a fan of juice. Nevertheless, knowing how picky she can be about food, Mark and Kate decided to encourage her to drink the beverage.

While Evelyn was still making faces, the waitress came rushing over explaining that she committed a mistake. Instead of juice, she gave her a real cocktail. “I’m so sorry, I really am sorry, I’ve given your daughter a real cocktail,” she explained.

Mark was shocked and responded by saying “Seriously? Oh, ok, well thank you for coming over before she drank any more.” A few minutes later, Evelyn stood up and started dancing. She was acting drunk and couldn’t walk in a straight line. Despite not finishing the cocktail, Evelyn has already been under the effects of alcohol.

Mark and Kate took her to a hospital where she was examined. Besides a terrible hangover at such an early age, Evelyn has soon recovered. Even though the restaurant offered the family a free meal voucher as an apology, Mark wasn’t convinced. He wanted to make sure that this wouldn’t happen ever again.

“How does someone put alcohol in a kid’s glass and hand it to them? Is it as simple as someone doing just that, or is there a fault in the procedure that would give rise to the chance of this happening?” he questioned the incident on his blog. Frankie & Benny’s spokesperson made a statement in which the restaurant expressed sincere apologies.

What do you think was the reason for this incident? Was it just a natural mistake or could it be a part of a faulty management system? How do you think should the restaurant handle their apology?
