A YouTube star has been applauded and dubbed a Good Samaritan after donating $1 million worth of foods to food banks amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Jimmy Donaldson, also known under the pseudonym Mr. Beast, has over 33 million followers on YouTube where he shares videos of his expensive stunts.
In one of his recent and most generous acts, Mr. Donaldson bought $1 million worth of foods that he loaded onto six trucks and delivered to food banks that were hit hard by the ongoing battle with the pandemic.
“Due to recent events, lots of people have started to hoard food, and when you hoard food, you donate less,” Mr. Beast said in his video as he and his friends were unloading a truck full of goodies.
In his video, the YouTuber also spoke to Smithfield Foods manager who revealed the company would be donating an extra serving of protein to food banks for each $1 donated to COVID-19 Response Fund by Feeding America.
In a recent turn of events, dozens of renowned businesses and individuals have pledged support and donated money and resources to the frontliners of the battle against the pandemic.
One of them was also Arnold Schwarzenegger who has once again made a sizeable donation as he donated $1 million worth of N95 face masks to the frontliners of the battle against COVID-19.
To assist health workers who are experiencing a shortage of protective gear and equipment, The Terminator actor has made a whopping donation towards Flexport’s fundraiser that has already raised several million dollars to provide relief to the real-life heroes.
With the former governor’s substantial financial help, some 50,000 masks were delivered to a busy hospital in Los Angeles.
“Our doctors, nurses and hospital staff are the real action heroes of this crisis. I just play one in the movies,” the Hollywood movie star previously expressed as he opened up about his donation.
“We have an opportunity and a responsibility to provide them with personal protective equipment right now to keep them safe as they fight this virus, so when I heard about Flexport.org’s plan, this was a no-brainer to me.
“With all of the courageous work they are doing on the frontlines to keep us safe, buying a few hundred thousand masks with a million dollars is the least I can do. Please take a moment to join me in supporting our heroes.”
After the funds were well-spent and the shipment of face masks reached their destination, Schwarzenegger has come up with a follow-up video in which he was seen opening one of the boxes and inspecting the contents.
“A week ago, we went and we ordered a million dollars worth of masks and protective gear for our nurses and for our doctors and our medical workers here at the hospitals around Los Angeles,” the former California governor explained. “And now I’m here to check out if, in fact, it got here and if the right masks got here.”
After pulling out one of the masks and confirming it’s an N95, the 72-year-old said: “Mission accomplished.”
