James Charles, now 21, released a video on his platform where he is taking “full responsibility” and consequences of s*xting two boys that were under the age of 18.
He sent them explicit photos and s*xually explicit messages. Unbeknownst to him, the boys were not of age and he continued to send them content.
The makeup guru has title the video on Youtube as ‘Holding myself accountable,’ explaining the allegations that were pressed on him when the public found out about the situation. Charles has around 25.7 million Youtube subscribers, his videos reach out to audiences of all ages, including the two boys who had claimed that Charles sent them solicited n*de photographs.
It is still a crime to be sending illicit photos to those that are not in the age bracket, whether it is solicited or unsolicited.
In Charles’ video, he tells his audience that he was ’embarrassed’ once he found out that the boys were not 16, claiming that the two told him that they were 18.point 362 |
He says, “Today’s video is going to be from the heart and I’m going to focus on what happened – all of the conclusions that I’ve come to – and most importantly holding myself accountable for my own actions,point 204 | 1
“First and foremost I need to say sorry. I owe a massive apology to anybody that I’ve hurt or anybody that I made uncomfortable with my actions.”
Taking full responsibility, the star also reveals that he had trusted the information he had received based on the teenagers’ accounts, instead of researching himself to confirm that they were of age. The video has been released a month after the accusations had started to come up to the surface.
During the time of his allegations, he had discovered the viral video that had spread the accusations throughout social media. The video was posted on Tiktok, another social media platform, where a guy was calling Charles a groomer, wanting to address the situation in order to bring light to the situation. Charles responds with, “The accusation that I have groomed this person is completely false.”
After the video became viral, the second teenager, also under age, had followed him and added him on Snapchat. Charles was interested, asking for his age right away, in which he responds with 18, and Charles started to flirt back immediately.
The second teenager had set up the makeup guru, having an ulterior motive as to why he started talking to Charles, even though he was underaged he still continued to text him.
Charles found out his real age, resulting in frustration from the star and unfriending the boy from social media platforms. He says in the video, “After false allegations like this in the past, I would never knowingly engage with anyone underage and put my life on the line for a few snapchats.”
