Deep Dive features an underwater city with an arcade and abandoned homes. It superseded Poland’s Deepspot, which measures 45m (147ft) in depth.

The newest attraction of Dubai is enclosed in an oyster-shaped structure. Guests are advised to wear a swimsuit or a thin wetsuit as they explore the depths of the pool.

The site also features an underwater film studio, an editing room, and state-of-the-art lighting and sound system.

It also has 56 cameras carefully placed around the underwater city and a hyperbaric chamber for emergencies.

Deep Dive is billed as a family-friendly day out with diving courses for advanced divers and beginners.

Those who do not want to take a dip can still view the depths from an 80-seat restaurant with large windows.

High-profile guests including Dubai crown prince Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and actor Will Smith have already visited the site.

Smith also described the pool experience as ‘madness.’

However, Deep Dive has warned guests not to visit the Burj Khalifa in Dubai, the world’s tallest building, after their visit.

“Don’t visit the top of the skyscraper after diving,” it says. “After any dive, it’s recommended to wait 18-24 hours before ascending higher than 300 meters (1,000 feet). However, there is no risk in diving after having visited the tallest building in the world.”

One person commented: “That looks absolutely amazing. It’s doubtful I can ever travel again, but if I could, that’s high on my bucket list. Am pleased there is a hyperbaric chamber – can see that getting used. Wish they said how much a visit would cost – it won’t be cheap.”

Another wrote: “I grew up surfing and swimming. Can’t go deeper than 10ft. My ears aren’t made for it. I would love to be able to scuba but no can do. But this does look like so much fun.”
