According to the reports, Graham was reported to the police by her colleagues after slapping a dementia patient across the face and “forcefully” pushing hot food into the mouth of another resident whose hands she had allegedly restrained.

As the court heard, the 60-year-old care worker was described by her colleagues as a “bully” and a “frightening individual” who was mistreating at least three patients with dementia.

While Graham denied all allegations, she was found guilty of mistreating elderly care home residents and convicted on three charges.

As Judge Nicholas Barker confirmed, Graham selected “extremely vulnerable” victims who were “unable to do anything for themselves.”

“They were entirely in the hands of those who cared for them. In my judgement, you were ill-suited to this line of work. You did not have the temperament; you did not have the patience,” Judge Barker said.

“There is a breach of trust here. You breached it in an egregious way affecting the most vulnerable.”

Following the shocking incident at the care home, Heron Hill’s regional director Sarah Willetts confirmed that Graham was reported to the police by their staff and that she was fired since the truth came out.

“Carla Graham was employed at Heron Hill as a member of care staff. Her colleagues whistle-blew to the home’s management team when they suspected neglect was taking place,” Willetts told The Metro.

“At this point the management team informed the local authority Safeguarding team, Care Quality Commission and the Police. Carla Graham was also dismissed from her post at Heron Hill.”
