A mother who wanted to feel better about her body was left in a vegetative state for four years after her heart stopped during a liposuction procedure.
32-year-old Sabina Abbas booked an appointment for a nose job and liposuction at a private clinic.
But during the 2017 operation, in which rhinoplasty and liposuction were done simultaneously, the mother’s heart rate stopped.
Sabina was rushed to a hospital after doctors at the clinic managed to restart her heart.
However, the mother from Antalya, Turkey, entered a vegetative state and she is still in the same condition today.
Her husband, Rustam Abbas, blames the private clinic and says his wife had been hospitalized for four years, including 2 years in the intensive care unit.
“My son Demir was three months old and my daughter Yanesk was two years old when my wife went into a vegetative state. Our lives became a living hell,” Rustam said.
“My wife’s heart stopped for four minutes during the operation. Doctors told me at first ‘she will get better’, then they transferred her to another branch of the hospital in the city center.
“She’s only 32 years old. We have two children, one is six years old and the other is four years old now. They are waiting for their mum to come home.”
Rustam continued: “The hospital wants to discharge my wife. She walked into the hospital, she should be able to walk out. I don’t want my wife discharged until she has fully recovered.
“They called me to the hospital to discharge my wife last night with the help of the police, but I didn’t agree.”
The legal battle is still ongoing.
