A woman has shared the moment her jealous ex-boyfriend attacked her using a 32-inch television on the back of her head.

Pieces of glass shattered across her bedroom in Manchester when her then-partner Scott Hughes, 27, hit her.

28-year-old Abbie Brydon attempted to escape but he pinned her into a wall and kicked her before stamping her head.

Brydon’s blonde hair had turned red with blood and she knew the guy she loved was about to kill her.

She met him after the two had a good conversation in a pub in Manchester a few months before the incident. Brydon thought Hughes seemed like a good person.

They quickly became a couple and decided to move into their own apartment together. Her friends warned her that Hughes had a chequered past but she believed in him.

But only less than a year into their relationship, Brydon was hospitalized with nasal fractures and a face so badly bruised her family couldn’t recognize her.

Although her injuries were shocking, it was a relief for Bryon to escape death. She admitted there were warning signs but none that would predict what the guy could do to her that night.

Speaking about the incident, Brydon said: “He had me fooled for a very long time.

“After a few dates I had mentioned him to my friends and they warned me to stay away from him, but I just couldn’t see it – he seemed like a really nice guy.

She said the signs started to show after she went on a three-week holiday to Australia with her friends.

“Even in the first day of the holiday I had my phone cut off because Scott had run up a £300 bill because he hadn’t stopped ringing me,” she recalled.

“He would constantly ask me what I was doing and who I was with. At the same time I was speaking to my mum back home and he was helping her walk the dog and taking her shopping so I thought, am I being too hard on him?”

She continued: “After a month or so living together, Scott just completely changed.”

There was a time when Hughes got so angry after she accepted a ride home from a male co-worker instead of walking in the heavy snow.

“Even when we were out with Scott’s friends, he would accuse them of flirting with me.”

On the night of the attack, the two planned to have a few drinks when she got home from work. “By the time I got home from work Scott was absolutely wasted and I could tell he had been taking drugs.”

The two had a fight and Hughes went out to a house party while she stayed at home. The couple argued again when Hughes was brought home by a friend who he suddenly accused of sleeping with Brydon.

“As soon as the guy left Scott just flew into another one of his rages,” she expressed. “I told him I had had enough and that I couldn’t go on like this anymore so I went upstairs to begin packing a suitcase.

“He picked up my 32inch flat screen and smashed it over the back of my head.”

Hughes will serve 14 years in prison after being convicted of bodily harm with intent after the attack. He even tried to fool a jury that he only acted in self-defense by slitting his own throat to frame Bryon but they saw through his lies.

It was discovered that he had a string of convictions for similar acts.
