A woman was caught on camera twerking on top of a coffin during a funeral procession that took place in Manabí, Ecuador.
As El Universo reported, the funeral procession took place in the neighborhood of San José where 35-year-old Marlon Mero Quijije was put to rest with a special sendoff.
According to the Ecuadorian newspaper, Mr. Quijije was a merchant who got shot dead in the area known as ‘seven stabbings’ by the locals.
During the funeral procession, a woman, who is presumed to be the man’s partner, was seen twerking on top of the coffin and leaning in to kiss the glass window through which the mourners could see the deceased.
The footage of the procession was shared on Twitter by a user who wrote: “If yo girl don’t do this at yo funeral is she really yo girl?”
In the video, the woman is seen fighting back her tears while twerking, whereas as the crowd is cheering and dancing to the beat of ‘Ella Quiere Hmm..Haa..Hmm’.

After the video went viral on Twitter, people have been left divided. While some suggested there was nothing wrong with the act since everyone appeared to like it, others said twerking was disrespectful to the deceased and his family.
“In my culture, having parties after someone’s death is normal. It’s pretty much a time to party the pain away. But during the funeral, we don’t go around twerking on people’s casket,” one user wrote.
“First of all this is disrespectful to the dead,” another one suggested.
One person wrote: “Some people talk about how they want their funeral before dying and just want that the loved ones party and celebrate.”
