Anyone who has ever worked in the entertainment industry always hopes to get a reaction out of their audience.
Hopefully, it’s a positive reaction but even some sort of reactive reaction is fine as long as it gains the film or performance a certain amount of public attention.
Apparently, the conclusion to Avengers: Endgame was either so awesome or so shocking, depending on one’s perspective, that one woman had to be hospitalized after watching the film.
As the culmination of 11 years of build up in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, everyone is hyped up about Avengers: Endgame and everyone want a satisfying end to this particular arc.
Before we continue, be assured that there are no spoilers here as this particular story will only focus on what happened to that particular moviegoer.
The young woman, only identified by the name Xiaoli, watched the movie in Ningbo, China. However, she was in hysterics at the dramatic conclusion to the film.
In fact, she was so distraught that she started to hyperventilate and even had difficulty breathing. The Shanghaiist reports that the woman’s hands and feet became numb and she couldn’t even stretch out her fingers properly.
She was immediately rushed to the hospital for treatment. Once there, doctors gave her some oxygen to help regulate and normalize her breathing.
According to China News, Yuan Liyan, one of the emergency doctors at the Mingzhou Hospital of Zhejiang University, said: “I saw that the patient had been breathing heavily, and according to the description from her peers, we thought that her crying had caused hyperventilation.
“We immediately gave her oxygen and relaxed her emotions by appeasement, reducing her hyperventilation symptoms.”
At least it was nothing more serious than that.
While may be the first Avengers: Endgame-related case the hospital may have had, hopefully, it will also be the last.
In any case, the patient recovered soon enough and was sent home later that day.
So if you’re planning to watch Avengers: Endgame, be forewarned enough to note that the ending is emotional enough to give you the feels. But if you think you’re getting emotionally overwhelmed, perhaps you should bring a paper bag or something. Or maybe some anti-anxiety meds.
