Brittany Negler from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania said she turned to drugs after she thought that she killed her brother.

“For the longest time I thought I killed my brother. He had Ewing sarcoma. One day I woke up, I had a feeling not to go to school,” she told Dr. Kenny Wilstead.

“So I went and laid in bed with him, and 15 minutes after I laid in bed with him, I heard him gasp and he died right there,” Brittany continued.

“I didn’t know better, so I thought I killed him. Like, I thought I laid on his breathing tube or something.

“I went to a dark place, I’m not going to lie. I started hanging out with the bad kids, started doing drugs to numb the feeling. I got really depressed. I was like, ‘I need to take care of myself.”

Britanny blamed herself and she fell into a crippling spiral until her teeth started to rot. But when she went to see a dentist, her teeth were removed and replaced with oversized dentures, which made it very hard for her to eat.

“I went and got my records before I came here and it looks like they just made it up right before I came in,” Brittany continued.

“Because on there it says ‘fixable by a root canal’, but they never said anything about a root canal. They said my teeth weren’t fixable; that they had to be pulled.”

After a series of appointments, Brittany finally received a pair of removable dentures and she can now smile.

“I posted the whole experience on my TikTok and after seeing so many people struggling with the same issues and can’t afford to smile again,” Brittany expressed.

“I don’t wish that pain on anyone and I’m trying to raise money to be able to help people smile again. Smiles really do change the world. I’m praying to start a non-profit to be able to help people smile and shine again.”
