A 30-year-old woman and two teens have been arrested for trying to kill her ex-husband.
Shaerin Kelley from Washington reportedly promised to pay the teens $13,000 for killing her ex-husband, Baron Li.
The three have been arrested on charges related to the shooting and attempted murder.
Li was walking to his vehicle about 8:30 am on July 10 when one of the teenage boys shot him in the chest, arms and legs.
The father ‘fell to the ground, the suspect stood over him and continued t fire,’ said Bellevue Police Major Travess Forbus.
According to court documents, the shooter had asked a friend to drive him to the Lakemont apartments in Bellevue, Washington, where ‘he was going cap someone and empty the clip.’
Fortunately, Li survived the horrific incident and said to police that the only person who wanted him dead would be Kelley.
The court documents stated that ‘they were in the midst of a very acrimonious custody battle that also included a financial motive for Kelley to have sole custody of their child.’
Detectives learned that his ex-wife purchased a GPS tracking device and managed to place it under Li’s vehicle.
“There is evidence that she conspired to commit the murder,” Forbush said.
Detectives also discovered the identity of the two teenage boys using surveillance video, search warrants, and social media platforms.
A GoFundMe page has been set up for Li. Even though two of four bullets were removed from his body, the remaining two were ‘too dangerous to remove and will remain.’
Li will need to undergo more surgeries to repair his right arm he used it as shield to protect himself from bullets.
