A woman’s stomach has been expanding uncontrollably for two years due to a mysterious condition that baffles her doctors.
According to Guizhou Urban Daily, 36-year-old Huang Guoxian, a mother-of-two from China, is suffering from a growing abdomen that already weighs a staggering 44 pounds.
As her stomach continues to expand, the mother has pleaded with the local media to help her raise funds in order to see a specialist.
Due to the substantial mass she has to carry around, Huang has a hard time standing, walking, and taking care of her children. Due to pain associated with the mysterious form, she also has trouble sleeping and performing basic chores.
As the impoverished resident of the Dazhi village hopes, making her story go viral will help her raise the money she needs to afford a proper diagnosis and treatment.
According to the reports, problems began some two years ago when Huang’s belly suddenly started swelling due to unknown reasons.
While the mother received medication that has helped her control the pain after initially seeking medical help, her abdomen kept on growing uncontrollably.
Despite visiting several hospitals in the area, doctors couldn’t come to the bottom of the mysterious condition. While the woman was diagnosed with a series of diseases including ovarian cancer and liver cirrhosis, the doctors were unable to discover what is causing her stomach to expand.
As Huang explained, one of her doctors attempted to extract excess abdominal fluid but that didn’t stop her stomach from growing bigger. Another one allegedly suggested that she’s suffering from a benign tumor.
While the mother is struggling with her health problems, her husband is working in the city to provide for the family financially. Meanwhile, their 10-year-old son has taken over the majority of household chores to support his mother.
“I used to do housework very quickly, but now my big belly has seriously impacted my normal life. My two children are still young. Their grandmother and grandfather are helping to look after them now,” the mother explained in an interview with Urban Daily.
“I hope to recover and become healthy as soon as possible.”
